The National Imperial Glass Museum is owned and operated by the National Imperial Glass Collector’s Society, Inc. and was opened in June of 2003. The displays have over 2000 pieces of beautiful handcrafted glass made by the Imperial Glass Company of Bellaire, Ohio, from 1904 to 1984.
Your self-guided tour offers an overview of how Imperial’s production mirrors the trends of the American Handmade Glassware industry as the interests of the consumer changed throughout the 20th century. Additional history from other Bellaire glass
An introductory video presentation tracing Imperial’s eighty-year history shows continually. The display rooms also include a gallery of portraits and original advertising and photographs. A separate tools display shows various hand tools and implements used by Imperial toolmakers for creating and maintaining glass production moulds and tools. Available in the gift shop are selected reference books, videotapes, souvenir glass items, and memorabilia.
